The risk of falls in elderly people has been correlated with various degrees of foot pronation as well as other foot or gait abnormalities ( 1,2,3 ) We have developed Footbit-Silver socks to identify and monitor foot postures/positions, gait abnormalities, and fall incidents. The innovative socks can be conveniently worn for extended periods of time during which Footbit-Silver sensors transmit data into a machine learning program, which in turn predicts and forewarns the wearer of a potential fall. Footbit-Silver is equipped with a real-time alerting system via SMS service to a point of contact including the wearer.
